Presidency

Ethiopian COP32 Presidency

Guiding negotiations with an African lens — bridging the implementation gap between global climate pledges and action on the ground.

Leadership & Mandate

As COP32 President, Ethiopia chairs the Conference of the Parties, facilitates negotiations among 198 parties, and drives consensus on the global climate agenda. The presidency works through the UNFCCC Bureau and coordinates closely with regional groups and partner nations.

Ethiopia's bid was endorsed by the African Group, recognising Addis Ababa's diplomatic infrastructure, AU headquarters, and Ethiopia's domestic climate leadership — including one of the world's largest afforestation programmes and ambitious renewable energy targets.

African Group

The African Group of Negotiators coordinates positions for 54 African nations. COP32 is an opportunity to centre adaptation, climate finance, and equitable transition on the global stage.
