The Conference

What is COP32?

The annual UN Climate Change Conference where nations assess progress on the Paris Agreement and negotiate global climate policy.

Conference of the Parties (COP)

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is the supreme decision-making body of the UNFCCC. Since 1995, COPs have produced landmark agreements — from the Kyoto Protocol to the Paris Agreement — and coordinate work on mitigation, adaptation, finance, technology, and transparency.

COP32 in 2027 convenes three concurrent bodies:

  • COP32 — Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC
  • CMP22 — Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol
  • CMA9 — Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement

Delegates include national negotiators, observer organisations, civil society, indigenous peoples, business, and media — typically exceeding 40,000 participants at recent COPs.

Venue & Blue Zone

COP32 will be held in Addis Ababa (9°01′27″N 38°51′04″E), Ethiopia's capital and the diplomatic capital of Africa. The Blue Zone is the UN-managed space where formal negotiations take place — open to accredited party delegates and observer organisations.

The venue campus will integrate sustainable design principles: renewable power, water efficiency, waste reduction, and accessible transport links to Bole International Airport and the light rail network.
